Pregnancy Skincare Routine - 100% Safe for Mama & Baby

A few months ago, I mentioned to people how good my skin was this pregnancy. Totally jinxed myself. I feel like the more pregnant I have become the more redness I have and all these random blemishes just keep popping up and do NOT go away. Sigh. However I do strongly believe that if I didn't have a good skincare routine in a place, I'd be in way worse shape. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I was using a combination of cleansers like cetaphil and a few random neutrogena products. This was clearly before I found Beautycounter. My skin was never great and it was only worse as my pregnancy continued and onto postpartum (for those who may not know, hormones can go even more haywire and whack PP!). I’d go to a dermatologist and they couldn’t help me because the products they were selling were not deemed safe for pregnant or nursing mothers. Cool.

I stumbled on Beautycounter through my friends sister about 8 months after having my first baby. The first product I tried was the Overnight Resurfacing Peel. The next morning, I instantly noticed my skin was brighter. Swear it. I was sold. That was my gateway into this incredible company and their amazing skincare/makeup. From that moment on, I went from someone who was dealing with consistent breakouts to it being a true rarity when I had a blemish. The best part? You can use throughout pregnancy and nursing!

My skin with my second baby was really great. Other than some hormonal redness it really glowed. Now enter my 3rd pregnancy where just everything is more intense…my skin is not great. It isn’t awful or anywhere near my first pregnancy but still…I loathe not being in control. Ya know?

However like I mentioned above, my routine in addition to monthly dermaplane and hydrafacials has been so helpful! I always recommend seeing an aesthetician on a routine basis but it is useless if you do not have a good skincare regimen at home. Sharing below for a list of products that I use daily that I swear by!

And for my fellow pregos or nursing mamas, this one is for you! All are 100% safe for you to use!

  1. Cleansers: I alternate between these two.

    1. Countermatch Foaming Cleanser: I use morning and night! Soft, gentle yet effective.

    2. Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser: I have used this a lot more now that my skin is a little more unpredictable. It helps keep breakouts at bay without drying your skin.

  2. Moisturize:

    1. Countermatch Adaptive Moisturizer: Women’s Health Healthy Skin Award Winner and one of our best sellers for a reason. The smell alone is enough to buy it! Keeps skin balanced without leaving it greasy. It literally adapts to your skin type. I use this in the morning for daytime use.

    2. Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream: I was always afraid to use a night cream thinking my skin is oil prone and with night creams being thicker it would make me break out. Why would I need that? Guess what? You need a night cream and it should be a thicker consistency than your day one. Again, this adapts to your skin and gives you what you need. The scent is heavenly too!

  3. Serums: Ah, I love serums! We all need them especially if you’r over 30!

    1. Overnight Resurfacing Peel: This was my gateway to Beautycounter. The one product that I saw instantly working…5 years later and I still LOVE. Overtime it has helped with my fine lines, dark spots and instantly makes you GLOW. Use at night under your moisturizer.

    2. All Bright C Serum: This is the peel’s cousin for daytime use. It does all the things the peel does and really gives you an instant radiance.

  4. Eye Cream: Speaking of being over 30…if you fall into this category and you don’t use an eye cream what the heck are you doing?!

    1. Countermatch Eye Rescue : I use day and night!

  5. All Bright Brightening Facial Oil - This is another one I was hesitant to use because again, my skin is oil prone so why would I use an oil? The thing is when your skin is too dry it can actually lead to breakouts. The key is keeping your skin balanced and sometimes you need a little oil for that! However I tend to use this more in the winter.

  6. Masks!

    1. Charcoal Mask: Love this for detoxing my skin and my pores. When you apply it, you can actually see it working.

    2. Reflect Effect AHA Smoothing Mask: Think TIGHT and BRIGHT. This mask is exfoliates and brightens/tightens skin and you see the effects almost immediately. I looove.

Hormones can wreak havoc on your skin, so give yourself some grace and know this is just a season. It will get better! Keep up with a good skincare routine and see an esthetician in your area. I will for sure be getting botox post partum as well as trying some laser treatments for stubborn dark spots. Stay tuned! And feel free to message me with any questions.
